Chinese plates are designed to fit the unique plate recesses on most Chinese cars, offering a tailored look. Featuring white characters on a black background, each set includes one standard size front plate and a second plate specially customised for the taller rear, ensuring a clean finish.

How do I get one?

You can buy Chinese plates by visiting a VicRoads Customer Service Centre or by requesting one with your new car purchase at selected car dealerships.

Good to know

  • Chinese plates are designed for most Chinese-made vehicles, with pre-drilled holes that line up with the original mounting points on the car
  • Fitment may vary by model. Please check the dimensions of the plate and confirm compatibility with your dealer before purchase
  • The pre-drilled holes on Chinese plates do not align to non-Chinese vehicles
  • It is recommended that the Chinese number plate bracket on the rear of your car is removed prior to installation
  • Chinese plates are available in black with white characters
  • Each set includes two different sizes – one standard size front plate and one custom-fit rear plate.
 

Combination options

  • Combinations are pre-set and you’ll be allocated the next available combination in the range
  • Combinations range from 8AA.1AA to 9ZZ.9ZZ
  • Order your Chinese plates at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre or by requesting one with your new car at selected dealerships
