If you answered 1, your preferred plate is a custom made one
Those who prefer individuality, or like to express their personality on a plate, make up the majority of our custom plate purchases. Custom Plates allows anyone (with a driver’s licence of course) to create their perfect number plate, from personalising their combination down to the style and size of the plate.
If you answered 2, your preferred plate is General Issue or Slimline Black.
We understand if you’re not ready to commit to a lifelong relationship, we’re happy to wait. Drivers who aren’t ready for custom plates will opt for general issue plates, the most common plates you'll see on the road (blue on white with the State Government logo and slogan Victoria - The Education State). There’s no customisation available with these plates - it’s a simple or the default choice for many.
For a sleeker look, our Slimline Black plates add a subtle touch of sophistication to any car. With white characters on a black background, the slimline size makes these plates one of our most popular. They’re available over the counter at your nearest VicRoads Customer Service Centre or selected car dealership.
